04.03. Engine - Pre Existing Reports

MJ Freeway is happy to announce the first release of our new Reporting Engine!

Standard Reports will be available to all clients,  and MJ Freeway will be rolling out new reports for our reporting engine on a regular basis.

To access MJ Freeway’s Reporting Engine, Navigate to Reports > Engine.
That will take you to your reporting engine page.

*For your browser, please use FIREFOX

To launch the Reporting Engine, click ‘Launch Reporting Engine’.

The Reporting Engine will launch in a new tab, and may take a few seconds to appear.

The Reporting Engine we utilize is called, Pentaho. It is a front end user interface for both running existing reports as well as creating and saving your own custom reports.

MJ Freeway has built an initial set of Reports, which you can view by clicking on the folder icon in the upper-right corner of the screen. If you aren't seeing these reports when you open up your engine, its just because they have not been accessed by your site yet.

Mouse over the last icon, the one showing a green arrow pointing to the left. It will say "toggle browser".  Click on that icon and it will open up the side panel.

Mouse over the folder icon and click to open.  You will then find the MJ Freeway Reporting folder as well as a folder named after your MJ Freeway Site. Within the folder titled after your MJ Freeway site, you will be able to locate custom reports built for your site.  If it is empty, that is because you do not currently have custom reports at the moment.  For information on custom reports, please contact MJ Freeway Support or you can also reference our Knowledgebase article on Custom  Reporting here

Select the MJ Freeway Reporting folder by double clicking it, then  depending on the MJ Freeway subscription you have, you will find GramTracker Reports, GrowTracker Reports, or both.

You can then execute any of the pre-built reports by double clicking on the report in which you would like to use.  The Reporting Engine has to ability to execute reports fast and efficiently.

Once you select a report, you can specify the Location (for stores or delivery services utilizing MJ Freeway’s multi-location functionality) for which you would like to run the report. To run one of these reports, highlight the report with your mouse, right click and select 'open' or you can double click with your left mouse.

Each report has its own parameters in which you can select from.  Here are some examples of reporting parameters you will see. Sections outlined in red are mandatory fields and must have information in order for the report to run.

  • Location: Any location you have in the dropdown menu in your MJ Freeway if you have multiple locations.  Some reports have the options to report on more than one location in your site, however not all have that ability.
  • Active?: Active, not inactive as set by you in your system for the product itself.
  • Start Date: the date you want your report to provide results on
  • End Date: the date in which you want data provided 'before' as opposed to 'on'.
  • Date: (YYYY-MM-DD)
  • Batch ID: the batch ID if applicable
  • Output Type: Options to output to different types of applications
  • Inventory Is Active?: depending on the status of active inventory in your system
  • Auto-Submit: If you select parameters with this selected, it will automatically update the report below.

Finally, with ‘Output Type’ you will have the option of HOW you would like to view, or even export, your report.

As in the example below, you will be able to run multiple reports side by side and toggle between any number of reports.  You will also have the ability to run reports for different locations and view them side by side.

Keep in mind the more data there is in the report, the longer the file will take to compile as well as the report will be quite large.  We suggest start with a basic set of information and expand from there until you get the kind of data you are seeking.

The reports can be exported to excel and manipulated in excel to view or edit as you wish.

If you are finding you want to build more custom reports within the system, click here to follow the tutorial we have for our Custom Reporting Module in the reporting engine.
